STEP 1
SharePoint to SharePoint Migration

The specialization of SharePoint Organizer is its ability for multiple conversions:

To ensure that data migration takes place with ease and perfection, the steps to work with the tool are explained below:

Step 1: Install the product and then go to 'Start' menu followed by 'All Programs'. Click 'SysTools SharePoint Organizer' and open the product. The following window will pop up on screen:

STEP 2
User Mapping

Step 2: Click on 'User Mapping' option and the select what type of migration to be executed.

  • For Example: If SharePoint to SharePoint migration is to be executed, then at the source and destination section, disable the check box after 'Office 365'.
  • If the check box is disabled it defines SharePoint and if it is enabled, it defines Office 365.
  • Enter the required credentials: the URL (organization domain name), admin Username, and Password for an account login.
  • Click on 'Get Users' and all the users under the domain will be enlisted.
  • Now map the accounts so that data is migrated correctly from one source to desired destination.
  • Click 'Save' and a CSV file of all the mapped accounts will be created.

Here SharePoint to Office 365 migration is exemplified.

Step 3
Start SharePoint Migration

Step 3: Now to start up the migration process, click on 'Start Migration' option in menu bar of the tool.

A window with two divisions will pop up; One for connecting with the Source and another to connect with Destination.

In the "Source" section, click on "Connect" (in the extreme right) of first division

Step 4
Fill the Credentials

Step 4: Enter the URL (Domain Name) for the Source and then administrator account details: Username and Password.

Step 5
Explore Folders

Step 5: A tree structure with a view of Sites, Documents, Library Folder, Lists etc will be displayed.

Step 6

Step 6: In the "Destination" Section, click on "Connect" in the second division. Now, enter the URL, Username, and Password again. (When the Domain Name will be provided, it will direct you to Microsoft's site to login)

Step 7
Details of Destination

Step 7: The Details for the destination will be displayed.

Step 8
Copy & Paste

Step 8: Now, the items from the source can be copied from the source and pasted to destination.

Step 9
Right Click & Select Copy

Step 9: For convenience, right click on an item of Source and then paste it to Destination item.

Paste to Location

Step 10: Filter Option: Set Migration Dates | Migration Permissions | Overwrite Folders | Overwrite Files |Version » Select User Mapping File Location » Click 'OK'

Step 11
Job Summary

Step 11: The software gives options to make migration process more relevant by providing options like:

  • Migration Dates: You can keep the document creation date intact.
  • Migrate Permissions: SharePoint permissions like Full Control, Read, Design etc can be kept as it is.
  • Overwrite Folders: Overwriting of folders is also possible with the tool.

The software here asks for the User Mapped file. Load the CSV file that you saved in system in Step1. Click OK.

Step 12
Current Status

Step 12: The progress report of migration process will be displayed on screen through parameters like Number of Errors, Job Status, Source Path, Destination Path etc. On completion of the process, the software will display a message regarding same.
